Specialist Vein Care was my third attempt at getting the veins in my legs assessed and treated and I knew from the initial phone call that I had found the right place; the whole team is so warm and friendly that I was immediately put at ease and I couldn't believe how quickly they could actually see me to begin the process.

They offer a very inclusive and personal approach, including my partner and taking the time to explain options and what the treatment actually is. On the day of the surgery (radio frequency ablation & phlebectomy's) it was made easy by the informative and friendly banter of this husband and wife team, yes you get two doctors, double bonus! And those stockings come in black, I was so relieved and they only need to be worn for 10 days not 6 weeks.

I’m half way through my treatment and the skin tone colour difference between my legs is amazing and I have an ankle back, no bruising and no pain. Dr Peter has offered great follow up as well, it was such a big step for me and I'm so relieved I've finally done it.

I would like to thank you so much for the relief of my varicose veins. Having worked in healthcare all my life and had two babies, I knew that when I developed terrible veins on one of my legs that it wasn’t simply a normal pregnancy ailment - that I would be subject to a life of chronic venous issues.

After fretting over them for months as soon as I was able, I got them sorted at SVC. I have known many doctors in my life and Pete is hands down one of the best I have ever met.  He is the absolute sweetest pea and is amazing at his job, superb with his bedside manner and all around exceptional in his field. It was so refreshing to come across someone that is in medicine for the right reasons. I felt so cared for at the clinic by everybody, and the service was positively out of the ordinary for Dunedin standards.  I had my veins sorted and resolved within 4 months and with only a week’s recovery time. Even if I didn’t have private healthcare I would have paid for this service - worth the investment 1000x over.

If you are young and have pregnancy related venous issues, don’t listen when they say it’s simply cosmetic - come into SVC and get them sorted by genuine people who care about your well-being and will be honest.  So much gratitude for giving me my well-being and independence back. I can now run after my toddler with a baby and keep up with them. I can’t thank you all enough.

Every staff member I met at Specialist Vein Care made me feel welcome and really cared for. They were relaxed, friendly and professional, and because of that I didn't panic or faint, as I had in previous medical experiences.
